Community mixer at Napa Yard

Our October Mixer at Napa Yard was a huge success, bringing together Napa dog lovers, community supporters, and animal advocates for an evening of fun and connection. Events like this are a great way to get involved with local causes and learn how to support nonprofits like Napa Humane.

Napa Yard’s  dog-friendly venue set the perfect stage for guests and their furry companions to relax and unwind. Attendees enjoyed Napa Yard’s specially crafted cocktails, the Paw-sitively Perfect Mule and Waggin Tails Fizz Mocktail, with all proceeds benefiting Napa Humane.

Q&A with Napa Humane’s Dog Training Expert

A highlight of the evening was the engaging Q&A with Alyssa Vincent, Napa Humane’s Pet Education Manager. Alyssa shared insights into Napa Humane’s behavioral dog training program, helping pet owners build stronger, more positive relationships with their dogs. Attendees received tips and strategies for tackling common pet behavior challenges and were able to submit their questions beforehand.

Community connections and exciting raffle prizes

Beyond the educational moments, guests had plenty of time to mingle, share their own pet stories, and participate in an exciting raffle. The prizes were fantastic, including adorable Halloween-themed gift sets donated by Target Napa (Soscol), a Brunch for Two donated by Copia, a Boo Basket for both human and pet donated by board member Chelsea Reilley, and Napa Humane dog training gift certificates from Napa Humane’s Board of Directors.  These contributions made the evening even more exciting, giving participants fun ways to support a cause close to their hearts.

Thank You!

We extend a big thank you to Napa Yard for hosting and supporting our mission of improving animal welfare in Napa County. A special thanks to Suzanne Hawken of She Shoots Shots Photography for capturing the event’s memorable moments. Check out the photos HERE And of course, thank you to all who attended! Your participation helps Napa Humane continue our mission of making Napa County more humane.

If you couldn’t join us this time, don’t worry—more community mixers are coming in 2025! We hope to see you at the next one!

We had an unforgettable evening at Gott’s Roadside St. Helena last week, surrounded by friends—both two- and four-legged! A huge thank you to everyone who came out to support Napa Humane and enjoy a night filled with community spirit and tail-wagging fun.

The evening was a wonderful opportunity to connect with Napa Humane board members and staff. We loved sharing more about our work and the programs that make a difference in the lives of animals across Napa Valley.

Thank you to our business supporters

We’re especially grateful to Gott’s Roadside for their generosity, donating the event space and 10% of the day’s sales to Napa Humane. Thanks to everyone who stopped by for a delicious meal—your support means so much!  The team at Gott’s was so welcoming and excited to see our furry friends, even treating them to trays of pup-cups!

We’d also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our raffle donors: Sportago, Fideaux, Paula Kornell, and the Napa Humane Board of Directors. The excitement over the prizes really helped make the evening even more memorable

A special shoutout to drool. dog cookies, who were onsite selling some of their delicious treats—many of our four-legged attendees went home with full bellies and wagging tails! Drool also kindly donated a portion of their sales to Napa Humane, and we couldn’t be more grateful for their support.

We also want to thank Suzanne Hawken of She Shoots Shots, who showcased her wonderful Rescued Dogs of Napa Valley photo books and took sign-ups for future photo opportunities—your presence added a unique and meaningful touch to the event.

Join us for our October Mixer

Our Napa Humane Pet Education Manager, Alyssa Vincent did a fantastic job with her dog training demo, giving participants some great tips on enhancing their bond with their furry companions.  Be sure to submit your questions for ask the trainer, which will be featured at our October Mixer.  You can RSVP here!

Thank you to everyone who attended. From raffle prizes to drool-worthy treats and dog training tips, the night was filled with laughter, fun, and incredible support for our mission.  Your participation helps us continue our work to ensure a healthier, happier life for pets and people in Napa Valley. We can’t wait to see you at our next event!

Check out all the photos from the event, courtesy of Seymour & McIntosh Photography.

All of us at Napa Humane hope you’re staying healthy and safe in these challenging times. Our Clinic remains closed to the public (following the recommendations of veterinary experts), and our staff is working from home as best we can to find creative new ways of supporting local animals in need. Our newest initiative is all about creativity – Art with Heart!

This super fun new program lets animal lovers commission an original portrait of their pet, created by local community members who volunteered their artistic talents. Your pet’s “portrait artist” may be a college student majoring in oil painting, a watercolor hobbyist, a precocious five-year-old, or an actual professional artist – but every single portrait will be rendered with love and appreciation for your support of Napa Humane. Speaking of support, special thanks to the Napa Valley Register for helping us get the word out about this new program in their recent article.

Art with Heart starts this Friday, May 1st, and runs for one week only. Donations of $20 or more made here are entitled to an original artists’ rendering of the pet photo of their choice. Donors will get a photo of the portrait within a week, and the original artwork once the Shelter-in-Place Order is lifted.

Every single dollar goes to Napa Humane to help offset the extra costs we face when we resume spay/neuter surgeries, and try to catch up on all the animals we missed during shelter-in-place.

Do you want a priceless, one-of-a-kind portrait of your pet?

Of course you do. Click here to get started!

Do you want to create an original portrait for a Napa Humane supporter?

Artists of all ages, media, and talent levels are welcome. Sign up here

Never underestimate the power of one individual or company to do good! Our local supporters have had amazing success with fundraisers for Napa Humane this spring. Our community’s power is exponential!

In April, Jessup Cellars raffled off ONE magnum of library wine and raised enough money for us to offer spay/neuter and treatment for NINE community cats! The talented chef team from Bounty Hunter Smokin’ BBQ also competed on behalf of Napa Humane at the HALL Cabernet Cookoff and won the People’s Choice Runner-Up prize. The money raised from that event will enable us to provide THREE community wellness clinics for Napa’s neediest pets!

In May, Provenance Vineyards drew an amazing turnout (especially given the unseasonable rain) for their Paws for the Cause party, where all ticket sales benefited Napa Humane. Also in May, we were honored to be one of the very first non-profits considered by 100 Kids Who Care – a new philanthropic organization of Napa County youths who want to donate to important local causes – and we won their votes (along with Be Kind) to receive the kids’ $10 donations!

Regardless of the dollar amounts raised, every single one of these events helped raise community awareness of who we are and what we do…which means an even bigger, stronger base of supporters for the future. THANK YOU Jessup, Bounty Hunter, HALL, Provenance and 100 Kids!

If you missed our spring events, no worries – there’s more on the horizon for summer, thanks to our amazing community! Napa Valley knows how to put the fun in fundraising, so mark your calendars for these upcoming events – all benefiting our life-saving services!

Wednesday, June 12, 4:00-7:30 PM at Clif Family Winery.

Join Clif Family for a dog-friendly evening with 20% of sales going to Napa Humane. They’ll be featuring their small-production wines along with an exciting Punjabi-themed menu of bites from their famous Bruschetteria Food Truck. Every menu item can be made vegetarian or gluten-free!

Friday, July 12, 5-7 PM at Starmont Winery.

Starmont is raffling off TWO magnums of Napa Valley wine (2012 Starmont Cab and 2013 Forward Kidd) to one lucky winner at their July Starmont Social! Raffle tickets (available in their tasting room now!) are just $5 each, and all proceeds will benefit Napa Humane. Join us at the winery with your pup on Friday, July 12, when the winning ticket will be drawn, and delicious Starmont wines and paella by Zuzu will be available for purchase. You need not be present at the drawing to win, but what’s not to love about paella on the patio??

Thank you to all our sponsors and supporters!

The Napa Valley community has blown us away with generosity to Napa Humane this summer. The season kicked off early with the Hall Cabernet Cookoff in April, when Bounty Hunter stepped up to the grill to win Hall’s donation in our honor. In May, Pet Food Express launched their Save A Kitten Campaign to support spay/neuter for orphaned kittens, and Provenance Vineyards hosted a Paws for the Cause event on their gorgeous patio.

Things heated up in July when C Casa held a Dine and Donate for Napa Humane, donating a percentage of their revenues to our life-saving work. August kept the momentum going with a “drink and donate” day August 22 at Tannery Bend Beerworks, and Jessup Cellars’ charity raffle of a magnum of library wine at the end of the month, AND at Trade Brewing, a month-long contribution of $1 per pint of Swing Shift beer. Plus, the all-star rock band More Than Acoustic picked Napa Humane to get the proceeds from two auctions of autographed guitars during their shows at the Blue Note Napa. Throughout the summer, our incredible supporter Patti Cowger also continued to donate ONE HUNDRED PERCENT of proceeds from her book, Demystifying Design. Wow!

We are so grateful to every one of these amazing community supporters for their creativity and generosity. Together, they have raised $7,000 for Napa Humane this year. Thank you, thank you, and thank you!
